Am I too old to see the Orthodontist?
Almost 50% of the people that we treat at Wexford Orthodontics are adults. There is no upper age limit. We have successfully completed treatment on a number of patients in their 60’s and we have seen reports in the orthodontic journals which show successful orthodontic treatment on patients as old as 90.
Approximately half of all adults will have teeth or gums that are not strong enough for orthodontic treatment. Some of these people can still have orthodontic treatment after a course of treatment with their general dentist.
If you are an adult considering orthodontic treatment you should make an appointment to discuss it with your general dentist first. They will advise you whether your teeth and gums are strong enough and whether orthodontic treatment is the best option for you.
